Understanding Islam Class
Feb 27 thru May 1, 2010
Saturdays, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Muslim Community Association (MCA)
3003 Scott Blvd, Santa Clara CA 95054
Islam is a bottomless ocean. So often we are content to stand on the shores; admiring its beauty and claiming full engagement. But in reality, we are dabbling in rudiments of the religion, satisfying ourselves with sandcastles, whereas our predecessors dived deep and reaped pearls.
This course will lead us from the comforting but relatively barren shores to the depths of those clear waters. Assuming knowledge of the what's and how's of the religion, this course will attempt to explain the whys, so that our experience is more immersive and rewarding. Everyone, from water splashers (new Muslims) to seasoned seamen (life-long Muslims) are welcome.
Instructors include:
- Imam Tahir Anwar
- Irfan Saadat
- Samy Hilali
- Ilyas Mohammed
The purpose of this course is to provide a 'refreshing' introduction of Islam to Muslims in order to:
- Equip them with a framework reflecting their beliefs, practices, values and behavior
- Motivate them to implement Islam in their lives in a holistic manner
- Enable them to respond to their local environment constructively
The following topics would be covered during the length of the course:
02/27/2010 Articles of Faith
03/20/2010 Sunnah: Legacy of the Prophet (pbuh)
04/03/2010 No class
04/10/2010 Way to the Qur'an
04/17/2010 Character and Morals of a Muslim
